This is my firs post on the new website and i’m very happy to use WordPress to power my personal portfolio / blog. As you know I am a WordPress fan so I would like to share with you what can be done with the tool in the technical area and in the personal growth obtained by being part of the community.
I had an awesome 2016 helping the WordPress community and i plan to continue doing so this year. Back in 2016, I had the chance to help as a volunteer in WordCamp Miami (setup, get involved table and registration), WordCamp NYC (registration and updating twitter talks), Boston (Swags table), US Philadelphia (room manager, get involve table). Meanwhile, i started to get more involved in the WordPress open source project (slacks meeting).
I had the chance to be the lead organizer of WordCamp San José, Costa Rica with an awesome team (inspired by my attendance to WordCamp Miami 2014) and we had de opportunity put under the same roof, during two days, 240 WordPress users / developers / designers who shared knowledge, experiences, work opportunities…
One of my goals for last year was to help the local Costa Rica WordPress community to grow. We started with few members and we ended up with almost 600 fans, having more and more frequent spaces to organize meetups and workshops. Meeting so many nice people on this ride, sharing knowledge, learning from others helped me grow as a designer / developer but also as a person, working for something that I really like.
For this 2017 I’m actively working for the community. I already booked my trip to WordCamp Atlanta, WordCamp Miami, WorCamp Managua, Nicaragua. And i’am helping to prepare all we need for an even bigger WordCamp San José, Costa Rica on September.
For all of those who want to get closer to the WordPress community and want to join us on this adventure, we are looking for organizers and volunteers. If you attended last year, you may notice that we will need a lot of help. Please send us an email to email@example.com and let us know how you can contribute to the team.
